Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. As of January 9th, 2024, the Communication and Informatics Ministry announced the online gambling content has surpassed the pornography content. The two contents currently sits at the top negative contents in Indonesia.

The Directorate General of Public Information and Communication, Usman Kansong says that his party banned online gambling contents more than the others.

“If we see the January 9th data, there are more than 1,000,400 online gambling contents that we have banned. This is more than the pornographic contents as they are only 1,000,200 contents,” reveal Usman.

He says that previously before the outbreak of online gambling, it was pornographic content that was mostly taken down by his party.

Usman says that the ban is according to the duties and function of his ministry in watching and monitoring the digital spaces from negative contents.

“If we compare it to the previous years, we saw there is a significant increase. This means that there are many of us who are lured into online gambling. As of now, there are around 3.2 million people who are gambling online,” conclude Usman.
