Inp.polri.go.id - Papua. Hundreds of residents of Nogoloit Village have been evacuated to Kenyam in Nduga Regency due to an armed clash between security forces and an Armed Criminal Group (KKB), confirmed Police Superintendent Rio Alexander Penelewen, the Chief of Nduga Sub-Regional Police.

"It is true that on Monday night (29/5), the residents in Nogoloit village were compelled to evacuate out of fear following the shooting carried out by the KKB led by Yotam Buriangge," he said to Antara on Tuesday (30/5/23).

He stated that the KKB has been engaging in shooting incidents since yesterday (29/5/23), resulting in clashes with Indonesian Military and Indonesian National Police (INP).

The residents living near the crime scene were terrified and requested assistance for evacuation to Kenyam, he added. Currently, as many as 156 residents have sought temporary shelter at Siloam Church.

"Logistic aid has been provided to the evacuees," he said.
