Inp.polri.go.id - East Aceh. Hundreds of Rohingya boatpeople were reported to have landed on the shores of Alue Bu Tuha Beach, West Pereulak District, East Aceh Regency, on Sunday night .

“The number is estimated to be in the hundreds,” said Syamsul Bahri, the Head of Political Governance and Security at the East Aceh National Unity and Political Agency, on Monday (6/1/2025).

A team has been dispatched to the site to document and gather data on the newly arrived immigrants. Authorities, including the police and related agencies, are coordinating efforts to address the situation.

“The follow-up actions regarding their presence will depend on the coordination results with the UNHCR, the international agency responsible for cross-border refugees,” Syamsul added, as quoted by antaranews.com.
