Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.   Indonesia is preparing sites to host and treat Gaza war victims, with Galang Island, Riau Islands, among the main options, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono said Thursday (7/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

"President Prabowo mentioned Galang Island. It was previously used as a COVID-19 treatment site, so the infrastructure is already in place. We are also considering other alternatives," he said, as reported by antaranews.com.

Minister Sugiono added that Indonesia is ready to provide medical care for up to 1,000 wounded, including children, subject to approval from neighboring countries Jordan and Egypt, as well as Palestinian authorities.

The plan follows President Prabowo’s directive earlier Thursday to assist around 2,000 Gazans. Galang Island was chosen for its adequate health facilities, having served as a refugee camp and COVID-19 response center.
