Inp.polri.go.id - Bandung.  Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno has outlined on Tuesday (12/12/2023) the government's ambitious plan to focus on sustainable tourism, targeting 9.5 to 14.3 million foreign tourists in 2024. This year's foreign tourist visits have reached 9.49 million, exceeding the initial target of 8.5 million, antaranews.com reported. In addition to focusing on foreign tourists, the Tourism Ministry has also set targets for domestic tourist visits in 2024.  Minister Sandiaga  highlighted the target of recording 1.25 billion trips and 1.5 billion movements of domestic tourists. Underlining the significant contribution of the tourism and creative economy sectors to Indonesia's economic growth, he said that these sectors reach almost four percent of the Gross Domestic Product. Emphasizing their role in job creation, the minister asserted the need for these sectors to have an even greater impact on Indonesia's economy, in line with the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045. Highlighting the success of Indonesia's creative economy sector, he pointed to its remarkable contribution of Rp1,300 trillion (US$83.2 billion) to the country's GDP. This positions Indonesia as the world's third largest contributor to GDP in the creative economy sector, after the United States and South Korea. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
