inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Abdul Kadir Karding held a meeting with the Hungarian Ambassador to Indonesia Lilla Karsay to discuss opportunities for cooperation in the placement of Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) in that country.

Based on a written statement of the P2MI Ministry, it was stated that both parties discussed the improvement of the protection quality for PMI while improving their skills.

"We must improve the quality of protection for migrant workers. On the other hand, we also have to improve the skills of migrant workers with the aim of opening up employment opportunities as well as efforts to obtain foreign exchange for the country," explained Minister Karding on Wednesday (3/12/2025).

He said that his ministry would cooperate with the destination country if they have good regulations regarding migrant worker protection policy and can provide guarantees for Indonesian migrant workers.

"The first is to have laws and regulations regarding workers. The second is to have a good concept of protection for workers, then the third is to provide guarantees," said the Minister of P2MI.

For that, he appreciated the Hungarian Government's efforts to establish cooperation with the Indonesian Government, considering that there are already hundreds of Indonesian migrant workers who have worked in that country.

"We also appreciate the cooperation that we have established with Hungary. Hopefully in the future we can further improve it," explained the Minister of  Karding.

Meanwhile, Hungarian Ambassador Lilla Karsay said that the audience was indeed held to discuss opportunities for cooperation in the placement of Indonesian migrant workers in her country.

Ambassador Lilla said that Hungary currently needs 50,000 foreign workers to work in Hungary.
