Inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya.  Indonesia secured its top position in Group A after defeating Australia 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-20) in the final group stage match of the 2024 Men's U20 Volleyball Championship at Jawapos Arena, Surabaya, on Thursday night (25/7/2024).

Initially trailing 7-9, Indonesia rallied to take a 18-17 lead but lost the first set 23-25 due to mistakes in receiving and blocking. However, Indonesia turned the game around in the second set, leading 14-7 and winning 25-21 despite a strong Australian response,according to antaranews.com.

In the third set, Indonesia maintained a tight lead, winning 25-23 thanks to crucial plays by Krisna and Dawuda. The fourth set saw Indonesia pulling away with a 22-18 lead and closing out the match 25-20, powered by Dawuda’s final spike.

Indonesia’s assistant coach, Joni Sugiyatno, noted the team’s performance was inconsistent but praised their overall effort. Australian assistant coach Jack Connell acknowledged Indonesia’s consistent performance and potential in the tournament.
