Inp.polri.go.id - Surakarta. Indonesia emerged as the champion of the Hydroplus Indonesia Para Badminton International 2024, held in Surakarta, Central Java, from 17 to 22 September 2024.
"We anticipated this result. While India fielded 61 players and Indonesia only 30, we reached the top spot," said Senny Marbun, the Chairman of the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC), after the medal ceremony on Sunday (22/9/2024).
The tournament served as preparation for the upcoming National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) XVII in October 2024, according to antaranews.com.
Key victories included the mixed doubles pair Hikmat Ramdani/Leani Ratri Oktila defeating fellow Indonesians Fredy Setiawan/Khalimatus Sadiyah, and Subhan winning the men's singles SH 6 category against India's Sivarajan Solaimalai.
Yuni Kartika, the Deputy Manager of the Djarum Foundation Sports Community Service Division, praised Indonesia’s performance, calling it a promising sign for future para badminton talent.
