Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Monday (23/9/2024) that an Indonesian diplomat in Pakistan is safe following a bomb attack targeting a diplomatic convoy on Sunday.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Rolliansyah Sumirat, said the diplomat, Indonesia's Chargé d'Affaires in Islamabad, was en route to an event hosted by the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) in northwest Pakistan.
"The Chargé d'Affaires and the entire diplomatic convoy are safe and have returned to Islamabad," he said, as quoted by antaranews.com..
Diplomats from Russia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Vietnam, and other nations also survived the attack. The explosion, caused by an improvised explosive device (IED), occurred near Malam Jabba in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing one police officer and injuring three others.
The Indonesian Embassy in Islamabad has been in contact with Pakistani authorities for the safety of all Indonesian nationals in Pakistan, currently numbering around 1,200.
Rolliansyah also warned against inaccurate images circulating internationally regarding the incident.
