Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Religion Minister, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas prohibits preachers on all religions to commit practical political campaign. The prohibition is contained in Circular Letter (SE) No 9 of 2023 concerning Guidelines for Religious Lectures.
That letter states that harmony of all religions is part of national harmony that has to be maintained. In realizing those goals, religious preachers have a vital role in maintaining unity and productivity of the state.
“The subject of religious lecture must not provoke the public for doing intolerant, discriminative, intimidative, and destructive actions. Moreover, preachers are also prohibited from doing practical political campaign,” quoted the letter on Thursday (10/5/2023).
Futhermore, the letter regulates the preach material to be educative, faith strengthening, and invite others to build a strong relationship with other religions while maintaining the unity of the state.
