Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  An Indonesian student, Alifia Soeryo, tragically lost her life after being struck by a falling tree near War Memorial Drive in northern Adelaide, Australia. In response to the incident, the Indonesian Consulate General in Sydney has coordinated with local authorities, including the process of autopsy in accordance with local regulations, said Director of the Protection of Indonesian Citizens and Entities Abroad at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Judha Nugraha, on Monday (12/2/2024). The Consulate General has also facilitated communication with the family and coordinated with a funeral home, antaranews.com reported. "We will continue to coordinate with local authorities and assist the family in managing the funeral arrangements," said Judha. Alifia was an Indonesian student pursuing a Master's degree in Communication and Media at the University of Adelaide. She was reported to be resting after a run in a park near War Memorial Drive when a 10-ton tree trunk fell, tragically striking her. Emergency services in Australia immediately responded to rescue efforts, but the Jakarta-native student succumbed to her injuries at the scene. (ar/inp/pr/nm)
