Inp.polri.go.id -  Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) maintained its commitment to strengthening security in Papua amid the presence of the armed criminal group (KKB). The INP has expanded its Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force in the Papua - a strategic initiative initiated by INP headquarters to strengthen security in Papua and counter potential threats posed by the KKB. In a recent video conference at the end of 2023, INP chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo underlined the importance of maintaining public order and security in Papua. He issued a directive to subordinates involved in the Force, stressing the need to prevent any disturbance to public order and security in the region. "Ensuring that there is no disturbance of public order and security in Papua is our top priority," he said. Chief Sigit underscored the key role of the Indonesian military and INP in safeguarding various government programmes, especially those related to development, with a special focus on Papua. "As law enforcement officers, it is our duty to be present, to provide security and to enforce the law against anyone who causes trouble," he explained. General Sigit also delivered a message about a special government program for the development of new autonomous regions (DOBs). He said this program indicated the government's serious commitment to meeting the needs of the people, especially those living in Papua. (mg/ta/pr/nm)
