Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Criminal Investigation Agency’s Directorate of Cyber Crime has uncovered a case involving illegal access and distribution of data belonging to the National Civil Service Agency (BKN).

During a press conference in Jakarta, Brigadier General Himawan Bayu Aji, the INP Criminal Investigation Agency Director of Cyber Crime, explained that the suspect, identified as BAG (25), a teacher from Banyuwangi, East Java, accessed BKN’s Satu Data ASN system using login credentials obtained from a breach forum.

"The suspect obtained the login access of an admin from a forum on breachforums.st," he said, as quoted by antaranews.com..

Suspect BAG downloaded 6.3 GB of data and sold it through the site.

The suspect also distributed data from 40 other systems, including those of international universities and companies. Suspect BAG earned USD 8,000 from these illegal activities.

The police seized evidence including laptops, mobile phones, and a motorbike bought with proceeds from the data sales.

Suspect BAG faces up to 10 years in prison under multiple laws, including the Personal Data Protection Law.
