Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Governor of Jakarta Pramono Anung Wibowo has firmly stated that he will not permit Israeli athletes to participate in the 2025 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships set to take place in the Indonesian capital.

“Regarding athletes from Israel, as the Governor of Jakarta, under current circumstances, I will not allow their presence,” he said at City Hall on Wednesday (8/10/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

Governor Pramono urged both the central government and sporting organizations to reconsider inviting Israeli participants, emphasizing that visas for the athletes should not be issued. 

He warned that allowing their entry could trigger public outrage amid ongoing tensions in Gaza.

“There’s no benefit in having Israeli gymnasts compete in Jakarta right now—it would only spark anger,” he added, citing President Prabowo Subianto’s UN speech as Indonesia’s clear diplomatic stance on the issue.
