Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Military (TNI) and Indonesian National Police (INP) have affirmed their focus on addressing the critical issue of air pollution in Jakarta ahead of the 43rd ASEAN Summit. "We've taken comprehensive measures to anticipate potential security disruption," said the Commander of TNI Admiral Yudo Margono on Friday (1/9/23). He explained that measures ranging from artificial rain to activity restrictions will be implemented to reduce air pollution. The reinforcement of cross-sectoral coordination further ensures a well-coordinated response, he added. In detailing their initiatives, he underscored the collaborative endeavors with relevant stakeholders to facilitate artificial rain. "Our collective commitment to reducing air pollution in Jakarta remains unwavering," he said. Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the Chief of INP, underscored INP's proactive deployment of road spraying vehicles to mitigate the impact of air pollution. He further noted that in collaboration with the provincial government, the police will implement restrictions on public activities. "With the objective of mitigating pollution, residents living near the event venue will be placed under work-from-home arrangements," said the police chief. It is worth noting that the 43rd ASEAN Summit will be held in Jakarta from September 5-7, 2023, with participation expected from 19 delegations representing ASEAN member nations. (ay/hn/nm)
