Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Directorate of Cyber Crime of the Indonesian National Police (INP) conducted a series of raids aimed at dismantling online gambling networks operating within the Bali region. The result of these raids was the arrest of 31 individuals suspected of masterminding and managing several online gambling platforms. "We have arrested 31 individuals suspected of managing the website HotelSlote88 and several other online gambling websites," said Director of Cyber Crime Brigadier General Adi Vivid Agustiadi Bachtiar on Wednesday (8/30/23). The roots of this operation can be traced back to early August 2023 when his office yielded crucial intelligence, prompting a swift response by the investigative team. Their primary objective was to verify the alleged online gambling hotspot and gather evidence to substantiate the claims. "Upon confirming the location's involvement in criminal activities, we conducted the raid on Friday, August 18, around 02.30 Central Indonesian Time," he affirmed. The raids, he elaborated, took place concurrently at two locations in the Sanur area, Denpasar. One place was identified as the operational hub for online gambling, while the other served as the residence for individuals employed in the criminal activity. The suspected individuals were found to be managing a network of gambling websites, including well-known platforms like hotelslot88, cuan88, jayaslot28, oscar28, and siera77. Evidence critical to the investigation was discovered at the raid locations, revealing a cache of electronic equipment employed in facilitating online gambling operations, including mobile devices, internet connectivity tools, laptops, and personal computers. The suspects are charged under Article 45 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 27 paragraph (2) of the Information and Electronic Transactions Law (ITE) and/or Article 303 paragraph (1) clauses 1 and 2 of the Indonesian Penal Code (KUHP), as well as Article 3 and Article 10 of the Anti-Money Laundering Law (UU TPPU). The telemarketing employees linked to the operation are also facing charges under Article 45 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 27 paragraph (2) of the ITE Law and Article 303 paragraph (1) clauses 1 and 2.
