Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has confirmed that the application for “fish milk” permits is currently in progress with the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM).

Fish milk is intended as an alternative to animal milk in the MBG initiative and is derived from fish protein extract or hydrolysate.

“The application to BPOM was submitted a few months ago and is now under review. We have urged for its expedited issuance,” said Budi Sulistiyo, the Director General of Product Competitiveness Strengthening in Marine Affairs and Fisheries, on Wednesday (25/9/2024).

He reassured that the process is proceeding smoothly and adheres to established protocols, expressing optimism that BPOM will grant the permit soon.

The initiative has received a positive response from the National Nutrition Agency, with hopes for fish milk's inclusion in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program.
