Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has issued a travel ban to prevent Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej, also known as Eddy Hiariej, from leaving the country for investigation purposes. "On Wednesday, the KPK sent a letter to the Directorate General of Immigration to prevent four people, including the deputy minister, lawyers and private individuals, from traveling abroad,"  Ali Fikri, the Head of the KPK's Information Department, said on Thursday (29/11/2023). This travel restriction will be in effect for six months from 29 November 2023, ensuring that Deputy Minister Eddy remain in the country if his testimony is needed during the investigation process. Fikri said that several people in the Ministry of Law and Human Rights had been officially named as suspects in a corruption investigation, and that their identities would be revealed once they were formally arrested. Deputy Minister Eddy  was reported to the KPK by the Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) for allegedly receiving IDR 7 billion in gratification in exchange of advice and assistance in legalising a company's legal entity. IPW chairman Sugeng Teguh Santoso reported Yogi Ari Rukmana, Eddy's personal assistant, and lawyer Yosie Andika Mulyadi to the KPK in March this year. Sugeng reported them for allegedly accepting gratification in exchange Despite the charges, Ricky Herbert Parulian Sitohang, the legal representative of Eddy Hiariej, denied the allegations of receiving gratification.
