"As election organizers, we are mandated to conduct the elections in accordance with the applicable laws," emphasized Idham Holik, Technical Division Coordinator of the KPU, on Thursday (1/11/2024). Addressing Megawati Soekarnoputri's comments on the election's direction, he affirmed that the KPU has adhered to established guidelines and regulations throughout the organization of the elections. For instance, he pointed out that Article 22E of Indonesia's 1945 Constitution outlines the principles of holding elections every five years, emphasizing direct, general, free, secret, honest, and fair processes. However, he considered Megawati Soekarnoputri's critique as an expression of the freedom of speech held by every individual in Indonesia. "In a healthy democracy, public participation is essential.
