The General Election Commission (KPU) and Health Ministry aims to focus in treating the health of Voting Organizing Group (KPPS) officers through comprehensive medical check-up by respective regional medical offices. “We will implore them to be treated comprehensively while our colleagues from regions will coordinate with their respective health offices,” says KPU Member Idham Holik on Thursday (1/11/2024). Committed of not repeating last election incident, Idham explained that his party has pushed KPPS officers continuously to be medically checked in ensuring that they are in prime condition on February 14th. Unfortunately, as of now KPU still could not provide sufficient medicines and vitamins for KPPS officers in the field. “For medicines, we will talk about it with regional health offices,” answered Idham. Idham underscores that the incident in last 2019 election serves as valuable lesson for KPU and determined that it would not be reoccurred in 2024. “We as the election organizers has to mitigate this kind of dangers,” Idham continued. One of the efforts taken by KPU in mitigating the issue is by releasing a policy which required KPPS officer to be between an age of 17-55. (ad/ndt/pr/nm)
