Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Director General of Marine Spatial Management of the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry (KKP) Inspector General Victor Gustaf Manoppo extends invitation to the Indonesian National Police (INP) for collaborative support in realizing the blue economy program, particularly in providing just and fair legal certainty for the business sector. "KKP seeks support in ensuring fair legal certainty while concurrently expediting legal decisions that facilitate national economic recovery and foster sustainable development, propelling Indonesia forward," he stated as quoted from Antara on Sunday (8/13/23). He underscored the collective obligation to safeguard marine environments and nurture habitats for marine resources across seas, coastlines, and small islands. These ecosystems serve as essential sources of sustenance and sustainable economic advantages, thereby positioning Indonesia as a global maritime nexus. "Managing Indonesia's marine and fisheries resources should accord precedence to ecological preservation, a stewardship vital for the well-being of future generations and the elevation of Indonesia as a global maritime hub," he further explained. The former Vice Chief of East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police elaborated further that KKP has outlined five policy initiatives poised for implementation. These strategies are tailored to bolster sustainable progress within the marine and fisheries sectors. The programs encompasses the expansion of marine conservation zones, the adoption of quota-based sustainable fishing practices, the promotion of sustainable marine, coastal, and inland cultivation, the meticulous management and governance of coastal regions and diminutive islands, alongside the orchestration of plastic waste eradication from the seas via the Fishermen's Participation Movement or "Bulan Cinta Laut" (BCL). "In its role as the world's carbon sink, Indonesia plays a pivotal role in both human survival and the mitigation of global climate change," he said. In his closing remarks, he emphasized the need for Indonesian fisheries products to take a prominent position on the global platform, advocating for their heightened competitiveness and the incorporation of environmentally conscious production methodologies.
