inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. To achieve the national production target, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, asked the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) to increase oil lifting. 

In his statement, it was revealed that currently Indonesia's oil production only reaches around 600 thousand barrels per day.

"I feel it is important to take a strong stance in handling this oil lifting. As of now, our lifting can only reach 600 thousand barrels per day, while in fact we can still actually increase it," he said on Thursday (11/7/2024).

According to him, currently there has been exploration of 301 oil wells, and some 195 are in Pertamina, while the rest are in other places.

“I asked sir Djoko, who has just been appointed, to handle this matter. This is your main job,” said Bahlil.

Bahlil has also personally asked Djoko to cut and simplify the regulations in Oil and Gas business activities while coordinating with others to increase the oil lifting. Bahlil also reminded his staff to do their best for the country, not for their personal interest.

“There are no ministerial goals but Presidential goal. We are only the helpers for our president, and vice versa. So do not do any programs outside of what the president envisioned,” says Bahlil in his closing statement.

Bahlil believes that if oil lifting numbers increase, it will have a positive impact on state revenue and can reduce oil imports.

Furthermore, he also believes that Djoko is the perfect figure to fill the position of Head of SKK Migas. Previously, Djoko led the Directorate General of Oil and Gas and also as the Deputy of SKK Migas.
