Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly engaged in discussions with Roy Beran, the President of the World Association for Medical Law (WAML), focusing on the health rights of prisoners.

Emphasizing the importance of continually enhancing and overseeing these rights, Roy expressed WAML's willingness to support countries in fortifying prisoners' health rights to ensure comprehensive human rights protection.

He underscored that prisoners, as citizens, deserve their fundamental rights, including access to healthcare.

The dialogue centered on strategies to bolster citizens' health rights, receiving positive responses from Minister Yasonna, according to a statement received by antaranews.com on Thursday (2/5/2024).

In addition to deliberating prisoners' health rights, Roy extended an invitation to Minister Yasonna to address the upcoming 28th World Congress on Medical Law in Batam, Riau Islands, in July 2024, with a focus on Indonesia's approach to addressing prisoners' health rights.

Joined by Bahtiar Husain, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Roy highlighted Indonesia's second hosting opportunity for the World Congress on Medical Law, following the 20th Congress held in Bali in 2014.
