Health Ministry Records 621 Deaths Due to Dengue

Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Health recorded 621 deaths due to dengue hemorrhagic fever during the 17th week of 2024, compared to 209 deaths in the same period in 2023. 

According to Siti Nadia Tarmizi, the Head of the Ministry of Health's Bureau of Communication and Public Service, on Thursday (2/5/2024), there were 88,593 dengue cases during the 17th week, significantly higher than the 28,579 cases reported in 2023.

She highlighted the top five districts and cities with the highest cases: Bandung City (3,468), Tangerang Regency (2,540), and Bogor City (1,944), as reported by antaranews.com.

In addition, there were 1,659 cases in Kendari and 1,576 in West Bandung regency.

In terms of fatalities, Bandung regency recorded 29 deaths, Jepara regency 21 deaths, and Bekasi city 19 deaths. Subang regency and Kendal regency reported 18 and 17 deaths, respectively.

Meanwhile, during the 16th week of 2024, there were 540 deaths and 76,132 cases.

Siti emphasized the importance of preventive measures, such as mosquito nest cleaning and proper disposal of potential breeding sites.

She urged people to seek medical attention if fever persists for three days and to ensure a clean environment.
