North Sumatra Regional Police Fined Thousands of Vehicles After Two Days of Safety Operation

For two days, thousands of vehicles are caught in the 2024 Toba Safety Operation held by the North Sumatra Regional Police Traffic Directorate. “During our two days operation, 94 people were fined through static ETLE, 14 were fined by mobile ETLE, 520 were fined through manual ticketing, and 2,234 are only given warning for violating the traffic law,” said the North Sumatra Regional Police PR Chief, Senior Superintendent Hadi Wahyudi quoted from pojoksatu on Sunday (3/17/2024). Furthermore, the operation also recorded several traffic accidents with total two fatalities, five suffering major injuries, and two suffering minor injuries with a total loss up to IDR 28,200,000. “Police act firmly against those who endanger others, such as going against the traffic flow and ignoring traffic signs,” adds the PR Chief. “Other than boosting public awareness on traffic rules, the operation also aimed to realize safe traffic situation,” emphasized Hadi. Previously, the North Sumatra Regional police and ranks announced they would held 2024 Toba Safety Operation which last for 14 days from March 12th to 15th. The operation involved 1,906 personnel consisted of 100 North Sumatra Regional Police task force personnel and 1,806 sub-regional police task force personnel. The aim of the operation is to ensure the safety of public in traffic road, public and private transportation, while also managing traffic flow to prevent congestions and accidents. (ad/ek/pr/nm)
