Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Two major Islamic social organizations in Indonesia, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) and Muhammadiyah, raised their hope for a peaceful presidential election until its completion, advocating honest, fair and transparent election in line with the electoral principles. "We are pleased that the campaign is progressing smoothly, without any incidents disrupting this political process. Our hope is for a smooth process until all stages are completed, and whatever the outcome, we accept it," said the Secretary-General of NU, Saifullah Yusuf, in Jakarta on Friday (9/2/2024). Gus Ipul, as he is commonly known, acknowledged the escalating political atmosphere during the presidential election process, but emphasized the importance of all parties maintaining composure and understanding it as part of political dynamics, antaranews.com reported. "This election is a process we must go through. After that, we come back together to find ways to shape a better future for our nation," he stated. Similarly, the Secretary-General of Muhammadiyah, Abdul Mu'ti, said that all parties must accept the outcome of the presidential election as the people's choice and a manifestation of popular sovereignty. "The winner should not be arrogant, the loser should accept it graciously, and after the election, we reunite," he emphasized. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
