Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. As the 2024 elections approach, leaders from the Papuan community emphasized the significance of embracing this electoral moment to achieve the prosperity and progress envisioned by every Papua resident. Rev. Jones Wenda, theSecretary of the Kingmi Church Synod, and Ali Kabiay, theĀ  Secretary-General of the Indonesian Red and White, said that elections serve as a crucial mechanism offered by the state to address aspirations and grievance in the daily lives of all Indonesians, including those in Papua. "In the election mechanism, every citizen is granted the right to choose without interference or pressure from irresponsible parties," Ali said on Monday (29/1/2024). Rev. Wenda highlighted the need for wise behavior, cautioning against being swayed by various provocations against the election process, saying,"Succumbing to such provocations would only bring harm and losses to ourselves". The leaders also called on the entire Papuan community not to be easily provoked by issues from any group opposing the 2024 elections. "Let's not create conflicts among fellow countrymen that can harm ourselves, others, and the general public. Let's make Papua as the Land of Peace during the 2024 Elections. Papua is Indonesia," said Rev. Wenda. (mg/ri/pr/nm)
