Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Papua Student Executive Board (BEM) Nusantara and the Jayapura BEM Forum held a declaration for peaceful elections in 2024 in Jayapura, Papua. Aksa Hamadi, from the Central Coordinator of Women's and Children's Issues at the  BEM Nusantara , emphasized the importance of approaching the upcoming democratic process positively on Sunday (11/2/2024). "With only 3 days left until the elections, the BEM Nusantara invites all student elements to encourage and advise the public not to abstain from voting," he said. Aksa asserted that as students, they must act as agents of positive influence on society. "Hence, the community's voice becomes instrumental in determining the future leaders of the country," he said. In addition, Aksa highlighted the prevalence of negative issues leading up to the elections. "We hope that through this peace declaration and the presence of the Nusantara BEM and all Jayapura BEMs, we can foster a positive impact among the public," he said. Brilian Ayhuan, from the BEM Nusantara, emphasized the significance of the peace declaration for students, especially in Jayapura, as representatives of the student body. "We, as student representatives, play a crucial role in initiatives like this," he said. Brilian emphasized the necessity of ensuring peaceful elections, as students are agents of change. "As intellectual representatives, we must advocate for positive initiatives like the peaceful election declaration in 2024,"  he asserted. Brilian said that as an intellectual body, BEM Nusantara must educate their fellow students or even our elders who may not understand or have never participated in elections before. He emphasized the responsibility of intellectuals to convey positive messages before the elections so that the public can comprehend and understand how to choose future leaders. (mg/ri/pr/nm)
