Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Metro Jaya Regional Police arrested two suspects involved in a case of fraud and money laundering related to Coldplay concert tickets identified with the initials ABF, 22-year-old, and W, 24-year-old.

Police Senior Superintendent Auliansyah Lubis, the Director of Special Criminal Investigation, provided detailed information regarding the case. It all began when the victims were searching for ticket-purchasing services for the Coldplay concert. They came across a Twitter account under the handle @findtrove_id. On May 12, 2023, this account posted an offer with the caption "OPEN JASTIP WAR TICKET COLDPLAY Music of the Spheres in Jakarta. Fee Bookslot 50K/Tiket. 1st Payment only pays the book slot fee, ticket price + jastip fee to be paid when the tickets are secured".

The victims then were directed to continue communication within a WhatsApp group created by the two suspects. Once an agreement was reached, the victims were instructed to promptly transfer the Bookslot fee amounting to Rp50,000 per ticket.

"The suspects then explained that if the payment for tickets was not made within 10 minutes, the tickets would be allocated for other purchases," he said on Monday (22/5/23).

On May 17, 2023, the suspects informed the victims that their reserved tickets were secure. Subsequently, the suspects requested the victims to make a full payment.

"The victims made gradual transfers totaling Rp10.102.500," he added.

Moreover, the suspects had made a promise to send the e-tickets within one hour of receiving the payment. Regrettably, they failed to fulfill this commitment. The victims received no response, and as a result, the Twitter account associated with the fraud, @Findtrove_id, was deactivated, and the WhatsApp group was deleted.

"The number of victims affected by the Coldplay Concert Ticket Fraud through the Twitter account @Findtrove_id currently exceeds 60 individuals. The total illicit profit acquired by Mr. ABF and Ms. W amounts to approximately Rp257,000,000," he said.
