Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR RI) Bambang Soesatyo has called the Indonesian Military and the Indonesian National Police (INP) to adopt a stronger and more resolute approach in dealing with the Armed Criminal Group (KKB). This call comes as a means to restore a secure, safe, and comfortable situation in Papua.

Speaking in Jakarta on Monday (22/5/23), he said, "To continuously develop strategies measures to anticipate follow-up attacks from the KKB by increasing patrols and security in vulnerable areas and residential areas."

Expressing his condolences for recent incidents, he condemned the acts of violence committed by the KKB, which have resulted in the tragic loss of life.

To address this issue, he urged the government, along with the Indonesian Military, the INP, and the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), to meticulously identify and analyze the patterns of KKB attacks.

This comprehensive understanding will facilitate the development of appropriate strategies to safeguard the well-being of the people of Papua and the security forces operating in the region.

"Moreover, the KKB persistently threaten and endanger the safety of both local residents and security forces," he concluded.
