Inp.polri.go.id - Berlin. The Police Attaché for Germany Police Senior Superintendent Shinto Silitonga revealed several legal issues that have unfolded during the first semester of 2023 during a gathering hosted by the Indonesian Student Association (PPI) in Berlin. He detailed how cybercrime had risen as a prominent challenge, with its focal point being the sale of airplane tickets at substantially discounted rates. Nevertheless, these tickets turned out to be non-issuable, underscoring the complexity of the situation. "From these cases, 530 victims, primarily Indonesian nationals (WNI) residing across Germany, experienced collective losses totaling IDR 10,5 billion," he stated in a written statement on Wednesday (9/8/23). Another common crime found was the distribution of child pornography materials in Aachen, he added. In this case, adolescents took on the alarming role of depicting public figures in explicit content crafted through applications and disseminated across social media platforms. He further revealed that there were cases of suicides among students and au pairs in southern Germany and disconcerting occurrences of intolerant group movements that targeted incoming students for clandestine and systematic recruitment. "Positioned as a platform, the PPI holds the potential to foster communication, consultation, and collaborative problem-solving among new students. Its proactive role is to forestall the impact of the aforementioned issues on our young generation, particularly as they grapple with cultural adaptation," he concluded. (ay/pr/nm)
