Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Sub-regional Metro Police urged people to beware and to not be easily swayed by hoaxes or information with uncertain sources. The statement was conveyed by the Community Development Head Unit of Metro Sub-regional Police, Police Senior Inspector JTH Sitompul. “People are urged to be careful and to be wise in handling many hoaxes that are floating around the internet,” said Sitompul on Saturday (3/23/2024). In his statement, he said that people need to first verify the source of the news and not to immediately jump on the bandwagon and spread the news immediately as it would trigger social conflict. Sitompul hopes the harmony and unity of the people that has been long preserved could be maintained and secured. “To the people of Lampung, I implore your participation in maintaining the security, peace, and harmony situation following the 2024 General Election,” said Sitompul. Previously, Metro Sub-regional Police had instructed security personnel in the region to patrol. According to Sitompul, the measure aims to directly monitor the security situation. “And to also create a bond between the people to absorb all the aspirations and information from the public, especially in the security sector,” said Sitompul. Sitompul hopes that people will continue to maintain the security situation and strengthen their unity. Relating to the election process, he implores people to trust the election vote recapitulation to the General Election Commission. (ad/fa/pr/nm)
