Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Jaka Sucipta, the Director of Village Funds at the Ministry of Finance, said on Friday (27/9/2024) that the 2025 allocation of village funds will prioritize climate change mitigation.
"Using village funds to address climate change is a top priority," he said, highlighting that Indonesia ranks second among 193 countries in disaster vulnerability, which requires urgent attention from both the government and communities.
The impact of these disasters leads to annual losses estimated between Rp2 0 trillion and Rp 50 trillion.
"Given Indonesia's high disaster risk, it's essential to provide funding at the village level to support local initiatives," Jakarta explained.
The Ministry has mapped disaster vulnerabilities across over 75,000 villages, which will guide the allocation of funds for climate-related efforts. Villages will be classified based on their risk levels, allowing for targeted interventions.
"With support from village facilitators and community involvement, local governments are expected to maximize these funds to achieve self-sufficient villages," Jaka said.
