Pidie Sub-regional Police states the smuggler of Rohingya immigrants scoop around IDR 3.3 billion profit after illegally shipped Rohingyans to Pidie shores. “They took a profit from every passenger with different prices,” says Pidie Sub-regional Police Chief, Police Superintendent Imam Asfali quoted from Antaranews on Thursday (12/7/2023). Imam reveals the payment that has to be paid by the passengers are varied with 50,000 Taka or IDR 7,000,000 for children and 100,000 Taka or IDR 14,000,000 for adult. “If we bring the total profit from the illegal practice of human smuggling and convert it into IDR, it is around IDR 3.3 billion,” revealed Imam. In his statement, he reveals that the uncovering of the profit was revealed after police arrested Husson Muktar (70) from Sokoreya, Bangladesh who lived in Corg Bazer. Police states that Husson has UNHCR card. Husson allegedly has working with several individuals, including Zahangir, Saber, and three other unknown individuals. Reportedly, upon their arrival with the immigrants in Pidie shores, Husson, Zahangir, Saber, and three unknown suspects were immediately running away to the forest after being chased by the locals. Husson were successfully apprehended by the locals after unable to running away due to his old age. He was then brought back to the shores along with other immigrants. (ad/fa/pr/nm)
