inp.polri.go.id - East Lombok. The Directorate of the Marine and Air Unit of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Regional Police have successfully arrested four fishermen who fish with explosives in Kuta waters, Pujut.

During the marine patrol on Tuesday (3/18/2025) night, police found seven bottles containing active explosive materials in a suspicious ship. Upon further looking, police arrest the four suspects with the initials of SN (25), SL (19), S (29), and SI (33). They were from Jerowaru District, East Lombok.

The Director of the Marine and Air Unit of NTB Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Andree Ghama Putra says that the patrol is part of the police effort in maintaining the security in the water areas and enforcing the law against illegal practice.

"At around 01.47 am, the patrol team found a suspicious ship, and after inspecting the ship, the seven bottles containing active explosives were found. We immediately secured the ship and four people on board for further processing," explained Andree Ghama Putra on Wednesday (3/19/2025)

Andree also said that the police suspected that the explosives would be used for fishing. This method not only violates the law, but also damages the marine ecosystem and threatens the lives of other fishermen.

"Misuse of explosives at sea is a dangerous act that can damage the ecosystem and livelihoods of fishermen. Therefore, we will continue to increase patrols and take firm action against the perpetrators," said Andree

This success demonstrates the commitment of the NTB Regional Police in maintaining the security of waters from various illegal threats. In addition to preventing the use of explosives, routine patrols are also carried out to prosecute various crimes at sea, including fishing in ways that damage the environment.
