Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police will soon summon eight suspects accused of spreading false claims that President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo used a fake university diploma, officials confirmed Friday (7/11/2025).

“We expect the suspects to respond to our summons and exercise their right to clarify their actions during questioning,” said Senior Superintendent Iman Imanuddin, the Director of General Crimes at the Metro Jaya Police,  as reported by antaranews.com.

The police divided the eight suspects into two clusters based on their alleged legal acts. The first group, identified as ES, KTR, MRF, RE, and DHL, faces charges under the Criminal Code and provisions of the Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) Law. The second group, identified as RS, RHS, and TT, faces additional charges related to electronic data manipulation and incitement.

The case stems from online content accusing Indonesia’s seventh president of falsifying his educational records, claims the government has repeatedly dismissed as baseless.
