Police have successfully revealed an online prostitution case with three out of five victims are underaged girls, state Bandung Police Chief, Grand Commissioner Budi Sartono. “We have arrested two suspects with the initials of HAD (24) and DEP (22) for their criminal act as pimp for offering online prostitution,” says the police chief quoted from antaranews on Tuesday (10/3/2023). Grand Commissioner Budi Sartono explains that the case reveal begins with the police receiving the report from the community regarding online prostitution with Michat application at an apartment in Bandung. “The suspect lured their underaged victims by making them as their girlfriend first. After having a relationship, suspects asked their girlfriend to work for them and seek other four friends for their illicit business,” he said. Police chief states that the suspect could scooped up hundred thousands rupiah from their online prostitution practice with their illicit service costed IDR 400,000 – IDR 700,000. For their criminal actions, the two suspect charged with article 2, article 11, and article 12 of Law Number 21/2007 concerning TIP with a maximum penalty of 15 years. Apart from that, the perpetrator was also charged under Article 88 in conjunction with Article 76 of Law Number 35/2014 concerning Amendments to Law Number 23/2002 concerning Child Protection with a maximum prison sentence of 10 years.
