Inp.polri.go.id - Medan. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) attended the celebration of National Press Day 2023 in Medan, North Sumatra on Thursday (9/2/23), congratulating and thanking the  press  for their work.

President Jokowi said that ahead of the political year in 2024, mass media must encourage the 2024 Election to run honestly and fairly, strengthen the unity of Indonesia, and to stay true to become the fourth pillar of democracy.

"Entering the political year, mass media must maintain their idealism, be objective and not slip into polarization," President Jokowi said in Medan, Thursday (9/2/23). 

In addition, the president advised  mass media to remain being a reference for the community in obtaining information.

The celebration was attended by Press Council Chairwoman Ninik Rahayu, PWI Chairwoman Atal S. Depari, Chief of INP General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Indonesian Military Commander Admiral Yudo Margono, Speaker of People's Consultative Assembly Bambang Soesatyo, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G. Plate, North Sumatra Governor Edy Rahmayadi, Medan Mayor Bobi Nasution, Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo, and a number of mass media chief editors.
