Laoly stated that the decision to appoint or not appoint a replacement for the resigned Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej lies within the authority of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo. "It's the President's matter, not ours (mine). We are ready to follow orders," said Minister Yasonna at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (7/12/23). President Jokowi had earlier signed Presidential Decree Number 57/M, dated December 7, 2023, dismissing Deputy Minister Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej. "This afternoon, the President received the resignation letter from Deputy Minister Eddy O.S. Hiariej. The President promptly signed the decree terminating Mr. Eddy O.S. Hiariej as Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights, dated December 7, 2023," conveyed Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana in a brief message on Thursday (7/12/23). In the preceding month, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) had declared Eddy Hiariej, also known as Eddy Hiariej, a suspect in a bribery and gratification case.
