Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Chairperson of Press Council Ninik Rahayu commends the Indonesian National Police Public Relations Division who is able to filter the information product to journalists and public.

“The capabilities of INP in filtering the hoax news to be included in the appropriate (sub) portal,” said Ninik after attending the 2024 INP Public Relations Technical Working Meeting on Tuesday (4/23/2024).

The move, said Ninik, eases the work of journalists in receiving the proper news and validating the information they got.

It is worth noting that the Press Council recorded a total of 813 cases of complaints throughout 2023. The number is greater than those of 2022 which only reached 691 cases.

“With the percentage of 97%, most of it came from the local media. Meanwhile, types of violations are hoax news (10 percent); use of sexually provocative issues (10 percent); untested information (20 percent); unverified information (40 percent) and using unreliable sources (20 percent)," reveals Ninik.

Ninik hopes that in the future, the INP PR Division could open more information to the public.
