Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) is working to have naturalized players Mees Hilgers and Eliano Reijnders join Indonesia's national team for the World Cup 2026 qualifier against Bahrain on 10 October 2024.
PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir said on Saturday (21/9/2024) that the naturalization of both players has been approved by President Joko Widodo, with only the oath-taking left, which will take place in the Netherlands next week.
Once the formalities are completed, Mees and Eliano will be registered with PSSI, strengthening the team ahead of the crucial match, according to antaranews.com.
"We’re aiming for at least 15 points in Group C to secure a top-two spot," Chairman Erick said, adding that their presence will provide a significant boost to the squad.
Indonesia currently sits fourth in the group, with eight matches remaining.
