inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman will optimize the time given in realizing food self-sufficiency. He even asked his staff not to take time off work except on religious holidays.

"For the time being, we are canceling holidays, there are no holidays for the Ministry of Agriculture," he said on Wednesday (10/23/2024).

He also emphasized that this would apply from now on in his ministry. Even so, he stated that the request was not official but applied to the internal ministry he led.

"This is to complete various programs to achieve food self-sufficiency such as expanding rice fields, pumping, and printing rice fields," he said.

In President Prabowo Subianto's speech during his inauguration, he declared that Indonesia could achieve food self-sufficiency in the shortest possible time. The Head of State believes that this goal can be achieved in the next four to five years at the latest.

According to the President, amidst the current global crisis, countries in the world will prioritize their domestic interests.

"Therefore, Indonesia must be able to produce and meet national food needs independently," said Prabowo.
