Religion Affairs Minister Believes His Ministry Can be the Best Example for Others

inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar emphasized to his staff to make the Ministry of Religion a role model for other ministries/agencies and institutions in terms of eradicating corrupt practices.

“We truly believe that we can be the best example for other ministries,” noted Umar on Monday (12/2/2024).

Umar emphasized the importance of commitment to purify his ministry from gratification practices that can harm the state and society. He invited all parties in the Ministry of Religious Affairs to uphold the principles of honesty, efficiency, and the principle of benefit in every policy step taken.

Umar also emphasized that the Ministry of Religious Affairs has a vital role in building the country. 

He added that one of the main steps to combat corruption is to make use of every advanced technology to build a more efficient system and avoid the practice of gratification, whether in the form of money, goods, or other forms of gratification that can damage integrity.

The Minister of Religion also emphasized the importance of savings in official travel , which is often a source of waste of the state budget.

He instructed that official travel must be carried out more efficiently, to better utilize technology such as Zoom, and ensure that every state expenditure provides real benefits.

“Anything that can be done through Zoom must be taken advantage of optimally. Every rupiah spent by us will have its effect,” noted Umar.

He also reminded not to make the regulations made as legitimacy for detrimental practices. In this context, the Minister of Religion promised to remain steadfast in carrying out the President's orders to make savings and be free from all forms of gratification.

The Minister of Religion is also not afraid to face the big challenges that may come while trying to reform his ministry, and even expressed readiness to bear all the risks that exist.

In addition, the Minister of Religious Affairs also reminded his officials not to make the family an entry point for things that could damage the principles of integrity.

"We must work with good intentions and avoid all forms of gratification. Let's make the Ministry of Religious Affairs a better institution," concluded the Minister of Religious Affairs.
