From this case, as many as 129 victims were saved. These cases were revealed from June 5 to July 20, 2023. "The modus operandi of the suspects is that they target people from the middle to lower economic class by tempting salaries and a decent life out there," said Police Senior Superintendent Pandra, Saturday (22/7/23). So that the suspects can be charged with Law Number 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of the Crime of Human Trafficking and Law Number 18 of 2017 concerning the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers. "The success of the Riau Islands Regional Police in uncovering cases of criminal acts of human trafficking is proof of the seriousness of the police in terms of eradicating and preventing cases of criminal acts of human trafficking," he said. Police Senior Superintendent Pandra said that this disclosure could not be separated from the cooperation and coordination with the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency (BP2MI), the International Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police (INP), and other relevant agencies in carrying out prevention, handling, and legal action.
