Inp.polri.go.id - Tanjungpinang.  Foreign workers in the Riau Islands are required to pay a $100 monthly fee for their Foreign Manpower Utilization Plan (RPTKA), according to Regional Regulation No. 1 of 2012. 

Mangara Simarmata, the Head of the Riau Islands Manpower and Transmigration Office, explained on Wednesday (1/5/2024) that this fee is collected through the employing company during RPTKA renewal, under the local government's jurisdiction. 

However, for newly arriving foreign workers, this responsibility falls under the central government, he said.

In 2023, the region collected Rp4.8 billion in RPTKA fees, with a target of Rp6.5 billion this year, allocated for job training activities, according to antaranewslcom. 

Currently, there are approximately 700 foreign workers,mainly employed by PT Bintan Alumina Indonesia (PT BAI) in Galang Batang, Bintan Regency.
