Riau Police Arrest Man for Tampering with MK Judge's Voice

Inp.polri.go.id - Pekanbaru. The Riau Regional Police has arrested a man for allegedly altering judges’ voices in a Constitutional Court (MK) verdict and sharing it on his TikTok account.

Senior Superintendent Nasriadi, the Director of Special Criminal Investigation at Riau Police, explained on Wednesday (17/4/2024)that the suspect, identified as MA 932) from Rokan Hilir District, was arrested following cyber patrols by the Indonesian National Police (INP)'s Criminal Investigation Agency. 

A TikTok account under the name Muhammad Arif posted a video presenting the outcome of the Constitutional Court trial, according to antaranews.com.

"The voice in the video did not belong to authentic Constitutional Court judges. The suspect added captions and reposted the edited video," Chief Nasriadi disclosed.

The collaboration of the INP's Cyber Crime Investigation Unit and the Riau Police's Cyber Crime Directorate led to the suspect’s arrest in Rohil District following investigations, experts questioning and suspect identification.

The suspect, claiming to have obtained the video from another TikTok account, is charged under Law Number 1 Year 2024 on Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE). Aside from the suspect, police confiscated a black Oppo A5s mobile phone. 

Assistant Superintendent Fajri, the Head of Sub-directorate of Cyber Crime at Riau Police, added that the suspect modified his voice on TikTok to mimic the MK judge. 

"The original voice of the MK judge can be heard at 1.42.39 minutes," he said.
