Inp.polri.go.id - Manado. PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia’s Sam Ratulangi International Airport in North Sulawesi will launch international flights from Manado to Guangzhou, China operated by TransNusa three times a a week, starting 27 October, 2024.
Maya Damayanti, the General Manager of Angkasa Pura Indonesia at the Airport, shared on Saturday (28/9/2024) plans for TransNusa to establish the airport as a hub for international travel. The airline currently operates domestic flights to Denpasar, Ambon, and Sorong, although the latter two have faced scheduling issues.
The Manado-Guangzhou route is currently serviced by China Southern Airlines, which also flies three times weekly, and Lion Air provides charter flights to additional cities in China.
About 97% of passengers on China Southern flights are foreign workers from China, primarily employed in mining sectors in Weda, North Maluku, and Morowali, Central Sulawesi, according ao antaranews.com.
China Southern has requested to increase flight frequencies from three to five times a week, but this request is pending approval from Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation.
