inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Traffic Corps of Indonesian National Police has deployed 12 Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) Mobile units in several areas to optimize traffic security during the Christmas and New Year holidays. As informed that Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement Mobile is a further development of conventional Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement. Instead of being a fixed point, aka staying in a specific position, Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement Mobile moves dynamically. This is because cameras and supporting equipment on Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement Mobile are installed on police patrol cars. That way, the coverage of the security area can be more comprehensive than ordinary Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement, which only relies on CCTV. Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement Mobile is also equipped with modern technology such as artificial intelligence (AI) to capture images of traffic rules violators. Acting Head of the Operations Section of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps, Police Grand Commissioner Dodi Darjanto explained several traffic violations that Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement Mobile could record. Among them are violations of the maximum speed limit for vehicles, illegal overtaking violations or overtaking other vehicles not according to the rules, odd-even violations in certain areas, motorists using cellphones, and over-dimensional over-loading (ODOL) goods transportation. Captured images of violations via Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement Mobile will be entered into the data centre. The violators will be subject to progressive fines. It is hoped that the existence of Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement Mobile with a more comprehensive surveillance area coverage can reduce the number of accidents and fatalities. The quality of road safety can also be further improved. To date, the Traffic Corps of Indonesian National Police has deployed 12 units of Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement Mobile in several areas such as the Jakarta-Merak Toll Road, Inner City Toll Road, Cikampek Toll Road, Cipularang Toll Road, Cipali Toll Road, Jagorawi Toll Road, Semarang Solo-Yogya Toll Road, Semarang-Surabaya Toll Road, and so on.
