Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Semarang. Vehicle traffic during Christmas and New Year holidays during Christmas and New Year holiday significantly increased for the last two days. In Central Java, the increase reached 13%. This news is stated by the Director of Traffic of Central Java Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Agus Suryonugroho, when monitoring the Integrated Service Post of Vastenburg Fort on Sunday morning (26/12). The Director of Traffic keeps intensifying unannounced visits of the 2021 Lilin Candi Operation. "The traffic is under control for now. There is a 13% increase in traffic flow, but it's deemed as smooth flow. I hoped the condition during returning days still the same", he said. Central Java Regional Police and related stakeholders always anticipate. All personnel in every unit are asked to anticipate convoy during New Year's Eve. "I also asked people not to celebrate New Year excessively. Celebrate it with the family and relatives at home due to pandemic situation", he said. Meanwhile, Chief of Central Java Regional Police, Police Inspector General Ahmad Luthi, who conducted observation at the service post of Vastenburg Fort on Saturday night (25/12), also ensured that the Christmas security operation in Central Java ran well. "For now, it is under control. No significant incidents. Health Protocols have also been enforced", he said. Chief of Central Java Regional Police stated that there are 279 posts established to secure the Christmas and New Year period. There are 83 posts for churches out of 3,130 churches. "There are 15,900 personnel deployed for security in Central Java. Around 1,300 people are from the Armed Forces. The security not only related to Christmas to New Year but also on Covid-19 handling", he continued. Some measures are being emphasised to anticipate the Covid-19 case surge after Christmas and New Year events. For example, Central Java Regional Police won't issue crowd permission on New Year, either in hotels, public facilities, or other places. Furthermore, he reminded that convoys are banned during New Year's Eve to prevent Covid-19 transmission. "Use online medium if people want to do activities", he concluded.
