"The target is in the next two years, we will fight as hard as we can to reduce extreme poverty to zero percent from the current 0.83," said the Minister Saifullah on Wednesday (11/6/2024).
For the poverty rate, he mentioned, he envisioned that within the next five years, the rate would be under six percent.
"As for the current poverty rate, according to the latest release of BPS, it is 9.03 percent and we pray that with hard work we could decrease it up to below six percent. That is the goal we should work on for the upcoming years,” explained Minister Saifullah.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Social Affairs has social welfare data, while the Ministry of Population and Family Development has data in the field of population and family development. The two data from the ministries were planned to be integrated into a single integrated data.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Population and Family Planning Wihaji conveyed President Prabowo Subianto's order to eliminate sectoral egos and boost cooperation to support each other, especially related to improving the quality of human resources.
The Ministry of Population and Family Development is said to increase collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs technically so that in the future the collaboration between the two will run quickly, effectively, and efficiently.
Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), since 2014 the percentage of the extremely poor population in Indonesia has continued to experience a downward trend from 6.18 percent to 0.83 percent or around 2.3 million people as of March 2024.
